What is "Stock Vectors"?

Stock Vectors is a resource site primarily for flash, web and print designers. When you require vector art of a specific object you can search Stock Vectors and purchase the right to use the required artwork for a small fee. Vector artists may also use the site as an online shopfront by uploading their artwork for inclusion into the catalogue.

What is a vector?

A Vector image is a mathematical representation of a particular item. Whereas a bitmap divides a photo into thousands of pixels which each consume colour data, a vector merely uses an equation to draw a curve or a line for a shape. Because of this vectors can scale without increasing in file size as the equation for the curve is the same regardless of whether it is an inch or a mile across. This means vectors have practical applications in programs like flash where file size is a constant issue. They can also have a particular illustrative style which is attractive in print and other media.

Who can use StockVectors?
